I absolutely love, love, love being a mom! Best job ever!! It does have its moments but I'd never trade being a mom for anything else in this entire universe. I have two amazing daughters who are the light of my life. They are my constant source of laughter, inspiration and pride.
Missy is my tenderheart. You know how you pick your baby's name and hope it fits? Well, Malynda is THE perfect fit for Missy! Malynda means "gentle blessing." She has fit that name since the day I was told that "It's okay, I'd be having one of my own soon..."(whispered in my ear by a still small voice, no joke) She loves to make people laugh. She is beyond intelligent and has an extensive vocab! Missy is creative, quiet and thoughtful and thought provoking. This girl has some DEEP thoughts! You should read her journal!!! I most definetly love being her mom! (she is my youngest and she is one of my miracles.)
I also have a beautiful and gifted adopted daughter. She was the literal answer to a heartfelt, down on my knees, in tears prayer. (FIRM testimony that our prayers are heard AND answered right here.) Her name is Aarika and in German her name means Heather, but if you look up the definition of her name it means "Warrior Woman" and boy howdy, that she is! She has always stood up for the weak, lonely and afraid. Her laughter is contagious and her talents are enormous. This girl can sing, dance and act like no other. I know, I know... all moms think their children are amazing, but seriously mine really are! LOL Aarika has even won huge honors/awards for her singing. She is a strong and fierce leader. She is a loyal and loving friend.
This will kind of explain how life goes for me and my girls when we are out together... bahahahaha...
A few years ago, after a scary week of Aarika needing to call 911 for me and having my heart restarted by the paramedics, I decided that we needed to make a happy memory. Jesse was working and things financially were okay at the time. We had a nice car to drive and so I decided to take my girls on a mother/daughter get away weekend. We went to San Diego, Sea World and Legoland. Time of our life! It was soooo much fun and so relaxing!
So one night we decided to eat at Marie Callendar's while we were on our trip. Aarika was being herself and had her cell out. Our waiter was pretty cute and they started flirting. Our waiter ended up sitting down at our table with us and he even took a bite of Aarika's sandwich!!! LMBO! How random and silly is that!? It was pretty shocking, but at the time we all just laughed about it and it added to our memories of that great trip!
I love making memories with my family. I probably haven't always been the best example of a "good" mom, but I have been a good example of a fun, involved mom! Like taking my daughter and her friends on "secret missions." (toilet papering, saran wrapping, heart attacks, etc) "Kidnapping" her friends and taking them to do something or have them stay the night with us. Going to Denny's at 2 a.m. for an impromptu breakfast and laughing at their craziness... Not sure if that would put me in line for Mother of the Year, but I know that it has created a special bond with my daughter and her friends that I wouldn't trade for anything. Those children became my "kidlings" and they call me mom. Even when I haven't seen them forever, when I do see them, the hugs are HUGE, the tears flow and the laughter begins! Pretty sure I'd take that as all good things in mommydom.
I'm not the perfect "housewife" and I definetly have room for improvement in many areas... but I love my family forever and I'd rather make memories and spend time talking with them or creating things or doing totally random crazy things than have the "perfect" house. The time flies by so fast...
So there ya go! My first blog on mommydom and hopefully I will be sharing more with you in the future! This is a hard time of the year for me but today, I'm going to try and push those thoughts and feelings aside and concentrate on making good things happen. I'm thinking I should have a recipe/craft blog too, but one blog at a time! :0) Bunches of love to you!
Thanks for making my heart smile!
